What Is Vivitrol?
Vivitrol® is an FDA-approved prescription medication containing extended-release naltrexone. A healthcare professional administers it as an injection approximately once a month.
Vivitrol is used to treat alcohol dependence and to help prevent relapse to opioid dependence after detoxification. Treatment must include recovery support, such as counseling. Your medical provider will determine whether it is appropriate for you.

Paired With Counseling
Treatment must include recovery support, such as counseling.
Alcohol Addiction Treatment
Our initial clinic launch focuses on adults seeking treatment for alcohol dependence. At Quantum, we combine medical care with counseling to support your recovery goals, emotional health, and everyday well-being.
Your treatment plan may include:
- A medical evaluation and review of your alcohol use history.
- Monthly Vivitrol injections when medically appropriate.
- Individual counseling focused on coping skills and recovery.
- Care for mental health concerns that occur alongside alcohol use.
- Follow-up appointments to review your progress and treatment needs.
Before You Begin
You should stop drinking before beginning Vivitrol. Your provider will discuss preparation and determine whether additional medical care is needed before treatment.
Opioid Relapse Prevention
In 2027, Quantum plans to expand our Vivitrol services to adults seeking help preventing relapse to opioid dependence after completing opioid detoxification.
This service will combine medical evaluation, Vivitrol injections when appropriate, counseling, and ongoing follow-up.
Important Before Starting
Vivitrol is not a treatment for active opioid withdrawal. Patients must be opioid-free before starting treatment because receiving an injection too soon can cause severe withdrawal. Your medical provider will determine when treatment can safely begin.
Contact Quantum for updates about our planned 2027 expansion.

Yes. Vivitrol must be used with recovery support, such as counseling. Quantum incorporates therapy into treatment planning to support coping skills, emotional wellness, and recovery goals.
Tell your provider about all medications and substances you use, even if you are seeking treatment for alcohol dependence. Do not stop or change prescribed medications without medical guidance.
Coverage, prior authorization requirements, and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan. Contact Quantum to confirm whether your insurance is accepted for this service and discuss benefit verification.
Treatment duration is individualized. You and your provider will review your goals, progress, and ongoing needs together.
Important Safety Information
Vivitrol is not appropriate for everyone. Serious risks include severe injection-site reactions, sudden opioid withdrawal, liver injury, serious allergic reactions, and depressed mood or suicidal thoughts.
Trying to overcome Vivitrol’s opioid-blocking effects can cause a fatal overdose. Overdose risk may also increase as a dose wears off, after a missed dose, or after stopping treatment because opioid tolerance may be lower. Ask your provider about an overdose-reversal medicine such as naloxone. Call 911 for a suspected overdose, even if reversal medication has been given.
Common side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, and sleepiness. This is not a complete list of risks or side effects.
